Speech after long silence...greeting February with bizarre television

Hello my family, friends, and other people who might stop by. It's been a while since I've posted -- mainly because Paul and I have been out and about and travelling a bit. I've got some beautiful photos to show you over the next couple of days of our trip out to the wild-wild west of Montana, and some interesting tidbits from a side trip to "the" (said with proper emphasis) OC. We are now back in England having enjoyed a rather balmy January for these climes. Paul is back in classes and I - having my MBA degree hot off the presses -- am embarking on a new work venture that is whisking me off to The Netherlands and Germany this next week. That is -- of course -- if the UK Border Authority approves my visa this Friday and gives me back my passport. So, as you can see -- things have been a bit nutty around our house lately.

To ease us all back into the new year and into the month of February (where did January go?!?) --I'd like to share three adverts with you that are currently running on the telly over here in England. Unlike an earlier post where I gave you my favorite ads, these are....well....um...NOT my favorites. These three quite honestly have left me scratching my head in what I believe might be a divide I may never cross -- the divide between US and UK humo(u)r. I'd love to know your thoughts on these!

Advert 1 is a commercial for Cheesestrings - basically mozeralla cheese sticks. Ummmmm...what?

Advert 2 is selling toilet paper (teehee -- loo roll!) with some very creepy looking doggies.

Advert 3 -- well I'll let you figure out what it is selling and see if you can guess before the end.

p.s. The Gavle Goat survived! More on that soon.

good to see you back on the blog! Those commercials are crazy..... I'd love to see a Brit's view of our wacky commercials.

I love the Andrex puppies!

Here in the US there used to be an ad for toilet paper with a growup telling a child "Did you know there are places in the world where you can't buy [this brand] of toilet paper? What do you think of that?" CHild responds, "I might like to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!" That ad really irritated me!!

The cheese strings ad is not very good. The talking toaster one I quite like.

Odd humor. perhaps the admen should join forces and make a commercial that features a cheese stick that lands in a toaster and gets eaten by the dog.
I can;t believe it, I searched for a job for eight months and got beaten by a toaster grrrr

I definitely have a post planned to highlight the shocking medicine adverts in the US. The fact that Paul had the "Smiling Bob" commercial memorized from the LAST time he came to visit over a YEAR AND A HALF before our trip - it just shows that the US has its fair share of weird ads. Almost American -- I have to admit I really like the talking toaster one, too. Dad -- but did you really want to wear lycra?
